The Health Benefits Of Drinking Water - Is Bottled Drinking Water Healthier Than Filtered Tap Water?

Water is a key ingredient in a healthy diet and lifestyle. There are many health benefits of drinking water. It helps flush impurities and toxins out of our systems. It aids in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients. In fact, nearly every system in our bodies relies on water for proper functioning. But what if your water is unhealthy?

In past decades, concerns about tap water and its impact on overall health led some people to turn to bottled drinking water instead. In those days, there were few choices. You could pay to have a company deliver large bulky plastic bottles of water for the water cooler. Or you could purchase gallon jugs of distilled or drinking water at the grocery store.

In recent years, there has been an explosion in the number of different bottled waters available, with big distributors such as Coke and Pepsi jumping on the bandwagon. But are bottled drinking waters like Cokes Dasani brand, Pepsis Aquafina, or Wal-Marts store brand really any healthier than your tap water? Or would you be better off with a drinking water filtration system?

As weve learned more about the water we drink, the technology behind drinking water filters and purification systems has improved dramatically. There are filters to remove impurities, chemicals, heavy metals, bacteria and most every contaminant you can think of. With the right size and filter combination for your specific home, your water can be exceptionally pure and healthy.

cost Comparison

drinking water filtration systems have also become more affordable and easy to use. Although the initial cost of a whole house system usually runs several hundred dollars, that cost is often less than $100 each year if spread out over the life of the system.

There may be additional expenses to replace carbon filters, membranes in reverse osmosis drinking water filtration system, or lamps in an ultraviolet light water treatment device. These expenses can add another $100 or so to the annual costs of operating drinking water filters and purification systems.

While some people may hesitate to spend two or three hundred dollars each year for clean, safe drinking water, they are probably paying more for bottled drinking water. Calculations show that at a price of $1 to $4 per gallon, bottled or delivered water costs an average of $400 each year, especially if you purchase individual bottles. And that doesnt take into consideration the gas needed to drive to the store or the environmental impact of all the empty plastic bottles.

Health Aspects

Many people who choose bottled drinking water understand that it is more expensive, but are willing to pay the extra money because they feel bottled water is safer and healthier than filtered drinking water. After all, bottled water is often marketed as natural spring water or pure glacier water.

In reality, few bottled waters come from natural springs, and most of them use municipal tap water. The companies are able to get away with this false marketing because the regulations and standards for bottle drinking water are less stringent than those for residential drinking sources.

Bottled water quality is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), while drinking water systems are typically regulated by State regulations or the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This doesnt mean that the FDA isnt doing their job. Its just that the rules for bottled water only require it to be as good as tap water, not better.

In addition, the FDA regulations only apply to bottled drinking water that is transported across state lines. If a company sells their bottled drinking water in the same state where it was bottled, the federal regulations dont apply. The result is that many bottled waters are not any healthier than filtered water, and in fact some are less pure.

This was demonstrated in a study conducted in 1999 by the Natural Resources Defense Council. They tested over 100 brands of bottled drinking water and found that about 1/3 of the waters contained contamination in the form of chemicals, bacteria, and arsenic. The study also found that up to 40% of bottled drinking waters come from a city water system.

How To Tell If Your Water Is Healthy

So how do you tell if the water youre drinking is healthy? With tap water, its relatively easy. If you water comes from a municipal source, the suppliers are required by law to provide annual water quality reports. If you have a well, you can have an authorized lab test your water. It may cost $100 or more, but its a small price to pay for peace of mind. Or you can purchase a kit and test it yourself, although the results are not as conclusive or reliable.

When it comes to bottled drinking water, it can be more difficult to know what youre getting. Start by checking the label or the bottle cap. Some may tell you that the water comes from a municipal source or community water system," which means tap water.

If the label doesnt give any information, you can call the bottler and ask. But dont be surprised if you get the run around and are transferred to several different departments. Some states have a bottled water program that tracks bottled drinking water and can tell you the origin of the source water as well as other information.

Safe and healthy drinking water has become big business. Thousands of companies are vying for your hard earned cash, and some are not always honest about what their products offer. The initial investment for a home drinking water filtration system can seem expensive at first, but over time, it is usually less expensive than bottled drinking water. And with a water filter, you at least know where the water you drink came from and how it was treated.

Before going out and spending your hard earned money for bottled drinking water that may be no better than your own tap water, its a good idea to do some research. Youre likely to decide that a drinking water filtration system and/or purifier is the healthier choice and provides the best value as well.

Tankless Hot Water Heater - How Can It Improve Your Home

How often did you take a shower and the water started to run cold before you were finished? Don't you hate that? With a traditional water heater this is always a problem. And if another person wants to use hot water after you, just forget it! Buying a water heater with a bigger tank might solve the problem, but it is expensive, it is huge and eventually any size heater can run out of water. Is there another way? Yes, you can switch to a tankless hot water heater that heats water as you need it.

How does a tankless hot water heater work?

There are two ways to heat water. One is to store it in a tank and heat it up there; this is what conventional heaters do. Another way is to heat water as it passes through the pipes -tankless heaters work this way.

Tankless Water Heater Pros

Tankless heaters have four advantages:

The best thing about a tankless hot water heater is that it heats up water as you use it. So you don't have to wait while it fills the tank and heats up. hot waves heat up water as it passes through the pipes. So it doesn't need to be stored anywhere prior to heating. What it means for you is that using a tankless electric heater you will never run out of hot water while in the shower. And if several members of your family take a shower one after another, a tankless hot water heater is a great time saver because you don't have to wait the tank to refill.

How can a tankless heater help you save energy? Other water systems heat water all the time, even if you are not using it. Tankless heater, on the other hand, only heats water on demand. It doesnt waste energy heating up water while you are at work or on holidays.

The amount of savings depends on how much water you generally use. If you consume a lot and need it all day, than the savings will not be as great. But if you use hot water only in the morning and in the evening, like most full time working people do, your energy bill will go down substantially.

Another advantage is that tankless heaters have a longer life span those ordinary heaters. The reason is that water is heated as it passes through, so there are no mineral build ups. If you purchase a tankless heater by a good brand such as Bosch, Kenmore or American Water Heater, it can last as long as 20 years without being repaired or replaced.

Also tankless water heaters are much smaller than the conventional ones. So if the space is an issue, tankless heater will be great for a small home or apartment.

Tankless Electric hot Water Heater Cons

Nothing in this world is perfect and where there are pros, there are cons as well. And for tankless hot water heaters it is the initial cost. Tankless heaters are much more expensive than ordinary water heating systems. However, if you invest in a high quality tankless heater, it will save you in energy savings in a long term.

How Tankless Water Heaters are used?

Tankless heaters are suitable for use in residential homes as well as commercial places. It can be used in swimming pools, one-day laundries, nursing homes and hospitals.

Most heaters have a thermostat that allows you adjust the temperature. You can set it on low if you have small children in the house to protect them from burning themselves. On the other hand, if you want instant hot shower, setting the temperature to high is recommended.

If you are tired of your current water heater consider a tankless water heater instead. It is very convenient, and its high price is overweighed by the benefits.

5 Pro Golf Techniques You Shouldn't Even Attempt

There are five things that an everyday golfer shouldn't even try to attempt! this article will explain what you should and should not try. Simple methods are the best, and I'm sure this will take strikes off your game.

1. All of the pros say, Never release the club to soon if youre on plane. Many amateurs are set on retaining a wrist ring for as long as possible, and then end up with serious control issues. The secret to lag is not your wrist cock; it is the ability to turn your lower body wide open before the club face meets the ball, while keeping your shoulders square to the tee. this will be your real source of power. For best hot control and distance, release your hands sooner and concentrate more on body posture, not the way you grip the club.

2. Let me guess, your still after getting more distance? Consider finding a softer shaft, it will help your lag to feel more natural, this is because of better loading and bending applications. With the proper fitting you can find a shaft designed to release in the best location for maximum club-head speed in the place you need it most.

3. Now, for the control issue, pick out a shaft with a softer tip section, the soft tip will do two things, your shots will be straighter with more torque, and you will have more forgiveness on off center shots. Pay attention and get the right flex, length, and weight for all clubs in your bag. It will make a difference in your game.

4. Maintaining a straight left arm and holding both feet on the ground at the top of your back-swing is almost impossible. Trying this maneuver will give you the risk of dropping your left shoulder, or developing a bad habit of reverse pivot. Allow your forward foot to lift and maintain while having a little flex in your left arm, this will produce bigger turns. Your stance should be narrower, allowing you to strengthen your coil away from the ball.

5. Flexibility is more than just being able to get the body into a more powerful position. Flexibility will also be a preventative measure that will make your game enjoyable for years. Take a few minutes before your next round to get loose. Pay attention to your posture. You will reduce the risk of injury after time. Stretching before your game will reduce the risk of injury and you will find yourself more relaxed and able to produce a more natural swing.

Remember, just be you and mingle at the clubhouse, ask questions about other peoples techniques, and just have fun and relax. You can meet lots of interesting people, which could lead to a better quality of life.
