Some of the Many Uses of Bulletproof and Bullet Resistant Glass

Many of us are familiar with at least the concept of bulletproof and bullet resistant glass, but for most of us these concepts play little role in our day to day lives. Even so, this powerful and potentially life saving technology is important in a number of locations, including some you may not have been aware of. Some of the many uses of bulletproof and bullet resistant glass products include:

- the Military When many people think of bullet proof glass and bullet resistant materials, it is the military that first comes to mind. Few people are more in need of quality bullet resistant materials, from bulletproof glass on vehicles to Kevlar vests as part of their apparel, than our soldiers. The military has always been at the forefront of research into stopping the damage from bullets and other military hardware, and many products used by civilians today got their start in the military applications of yesterday.

- The Security Industry These days even the most pedestrian businesses are becoming increasingly conscious of security issues, and some recent high profile workplace shootings have led many companies to install safe rooms protected by bulletproof or bullet resistant glass. In addition, many companies are installing bulletproof or bullet resistant glass on their guard shacks to protect both their employees and their property.

- The Police The police, of course, always have a need for bullet resistant and bulletproof materials, and equipping police cars with bulletproof glass can be a smart strategy. Like the military, those companies that cater to the police and security market are always in search of the latest and greatest technology in the world of bulletproof and bullet resistant glass and other materials.

- Convenience Stores While it may not have the high profile of the military or the police force, convenience store clerks are often the people most in need of a sheet of bulletproof glass. Putting a solid sheet of bulletproof glass between workers and would be robbers provides protection both for the employee and the employer. A number of convenience store chains have begun to employ bulletproof glass cages as part of their store installations, and many have found these setups to be highly effective at preventing robberies and protecting employees and managers.

- Repo Men It seems that those brave people who repossess cars and other vehicles for a living all have a story of a close brush with a disgruntled debtor. Car owners are understandably reluctant to lose their transportation to a repo company, and they often take their frustration out on those workers. Many repo men (and women) have equipped their tow rigs with bulletproof glass in order to protect themselves from possible harm.

There are of course additional uses for bulletproof glass and bullet resistant technology, and as the market continues to grow and evolve, more uses are likely to be discovered as well. Bulletproof and bullet resistant glass is able to provide a level of protection that few other safety materials can match, and that is definitely good news for everyone.

UFC

the art of brutality in its purest, rawest form. That is what UFC offers, or at least it did at one time. Gone are the days of the blood-lust, the modern UFC looks more like a ballet. In its primitive beginnings UFC was the anything goes, bare knuckle blood fest that pulled from underground foreign fighting circuits and targeted the violence nurtured American populace. It was for people who liked to watch men destroy each other, plain and simple. Now, UFC has adapted itself to the mainstream. Instead Oh, my god, how much more can he take? commentators are more likely to be heard saying My god, the ref called that on in a hurry. What prompted this radical change in style?

When The Ultimate Fighter started on UFC, the producers knew some changes had to be made. Even under the protections of late night cable, a weekly UFC was not going to get away with the dangers of the no holds barred style. What if, for example, someone was seriously injured, or even killed? The adjustments were made, and thus UFC crept into the mainstream.

Once heralded as the ultimate underground fighting promotion, UFC is now regarded as the contender to take over for Boxing as the century rolls on. Pundits argue that the diverse styles that UFC attracts place their fighters above boxers in terms of intelligence and dynamics. UFC fighters can be anything from Ninjas to street brawlers, it is hard to say, unless you are a seasoned fan, what direction a UFC fight is going to go in. Is it going to be a submission showdown? Or a knockout? This is part of the glamour of the fight.

As UFC moves further and further from its underground roots with charismatic fighters replacing the scarred warriors of past days, it seems nothing can stop it from becoming the sporting event of the future.
